Behind the scenes: Janet und Stefan

Even though at Aeditive everything revolves around robots and automation, the crucial factor is the people behind the technology. That’s why we would like to introduce, in random order, some of our employees and how they contribute to the success of the Concrete Aeditor in their respective areas. Starting off are Janet Zani-McKenzie Fuentes and Stefan Hain.

Stefan Hain und Janet

Stefan has been with Aeditive since October 2020, making him a veteran in start-up terms. As a trained industrial mechanic, Stefan has brought great commitment and know-how to the development and construction of our demonstration plant in Norderstedt from the very beginning. Over time, he acquired more and more tasks and responsibilities: as Head of Engineering Lab, Stefan now leads a team of four and coordinates all activities related to the plant and test operations. These range from maintenance and assembly of the Concrete Aeditor to the ordering and logistics of materials and parts, as well as project and plant planning.

Exactly one year later, in October 2021, Janet joined us as a HR coordinator and team assistant. With great people skills and sensitivity, Janet quickly established herself as the first and central point of contact for all staff concerns. She supports staff development, administration and recruiting – an important area for a growing start-up like ours, affected by the shortage of skilled workers like everyone else. In addition, Janet takes care of administrative tasks and with her great organizational talent ensures the smooth running of our day-to-day operations.

The best way to get to know someone is their own words, so please briefly introduce yourselves:
Janet: I am 37 years, with Cuban and Jamaican roots on my father’s side, and I hail from the beautiful Germany region of Saxony. After leaving school, I completed my training as a business assistant specializing in foreign languages. As the central means of communication and carrier of culture, language has always fascinated me when dealing with people. In 2005, I moved to Hamburg and, after a few interim stops, worked in various positions for a medium-sized company in the aviation industry. After my husband and I had two children, it was time for a professional change, which is how I came to join Aeditive. A good decision, I like the team, my diverse tasks, and the fact that I can walk to work.

Stefan: I am 30 years young and grew up in the Hessian town of Schwarzenberg near Melsungen. I completed my training with a pharmaceutical giant, followed by seven years of working and supervising shifts in the maintenance of plants, followed by two years of special machine construction in Europe. As a true country boy, I did a lot of volunteer work in the fire department, both in active duty and training children and adolescents. Teamwork and team responsibility working on and with machines has always been my thing. In 2020, I moved to Hamburg and joined Aeditive.

And what is the most important tool in your daily work?
Stefan: I have to coordinate and plan a lot, and good and open communication is crucial. So: my open ear.
Janet: Yes, same here, but to make sure that none of my topics fall through the cracks, I’m a diligent notetaker, and I am actually still analog using pen and paper.

And what do you do when you’re not working?
Janet: I enjoy spending time with my family. I love to travel far and wide, but we also make spontaneous trips quite frequently. In my me-time, I like to do up my home and garden.
Stefan: I like being active: bouldering, climbing, hiking, SUPing, traveling, camping. And since 2016, I’ve also been renovating and renting out houses and apartments.

Morning routine or hitting snooze one more time?
Stefan: Hitting snooze three times is perfectly okay, absolutely.
Janet: No, I always turn off the alarm immediately – but then I usually stay in bed for another 20 minutes.

What would the title of your autobiography be?
Stefan: “Reaching the Top – From Hesse to Hamburg”
Janet: “Just Saving the World Real Quick”, I just like helping.

Thank you both – for your answers and for your daily commitment at Aeditive!
