Sustainable digital transformation of concrete construction

As part of the “Construction Startup Radar” interview series, Alexander Türk talks to strategy consultancy Roland Berger about his experience as the CEO of a technology start-up, innovation drivers and digital trends as well as the specific challenges of a very traditional industry.

Business and society are in the midst of a profound digital transformation that the construction industry won’t be able to escape. Innovative manufacturing technologies such as the shotcrete 3D printing of precast concrete elements could accelerate the structural change in the industry: “We believe that automation technology will be a source of competitive advantage in the construction industry and of course, first movers will be able to gain experience before others do”, says Alexander Türk. “Higher entry barriers will drive market consolidation both in terms of numbers of players as well as their regional manufacturing footprint.”
